Pattern: Home , small farm or big mansion sometimes with the whole village , church...
Color: very saturated
Complete alphabet is rare

Germany
Pattern: Linear and vertical in structure with each element separated by a geometric motif.
Color: Pastel
Motifs: Symbolic ( apple tree , life tree, Adam &Eve, many biblical symbols..)
Very sophisticated alphabet letters.
France
French samplers feature almost always a complete alpahabet.
Most of the time letters are stitched in red.
It's common to have the name of the young girl and often the name of her village stitched on the sampler.
But sometimes the work is just a vehicle to to show off her talent.
