Lida & Zika Ascher

Zika Ascher (1910-1992) was a Czech immigrant in London during World War II who played an important role in the British textile history of the second half of the 20th c. He was a fabric manufacturer and a supplier to the fashion industry in the 40's 50's and 60's. After the war Zika asked the most prestigious contemporary artists such as Picasso, Matisse, Delaunay, Cocteau, Laurencin, and Derain to design textiles for him. Lida and Zika Ascher's own designs were selected by worldwide renowned fashion designers such as Dior, Schiaparelli, Givenchy, Lanvin, Yves Saint Laurent and Mary Quant.
